When was last your eye exam? If you can’t remember when the last one was, it’s probably time to make an appointment at your nearest optometrist’s office. With two locations in Central Newfoundland, Howlett Optical makes it easy for you to schedule an eye exam close to work or close to home.
How often should you have an eye exam? Here are the recommendations from the Canadian Association of Optometrists:
Infants and toddlers should have an eye exam between the ages of 6 and 9 months
Preschoolers (up to 5 years of age) should have at least one eye exam between the ages of 2 and 5
School-aged children (6 to 19 years of age) should have an annual eye exam
Adults (20 to 39 years of age) should have an eye exam every 2 to 3 years
Adults (40 to 64 years of age) should have an eye exam every 2 years
Seniors (65 years or older) should have annual eye exams
Your Medical History and Vision Health
When you come in for your eye exam, it’s important to let your optometrist know about medical conditions such as diabetes and hypertension and family histories that include conditions such as glaucoma. All of these, as well as some medications, may cause changes to your eyes that should be monitored. This is one of the reasons we would like to have new patients fill out a medical history form, so that we can help you preserve your vision health.
Squeezing your appointment in during a lunch hour or between other errands? Speed your appointment up by printing and completing our new patient form and bring it with you to your first appointment at Howlett Optical.
